Movie Review: War Room

Maybe you saw it ! You did go to see it didn’t you? Well, you need to! Yes, you owe it to yourself to see the best movie I’ve seen in decades and trust me when I say that I love my movies! Yes, of course, I’m talking about “War Room.” What other movie could I possibly be talking about on this level?

  • Provident FilmsWar Room’ is a 2015 American Christiandrama filmdirected by  Alex Kendrickand cowritten and produced by his brother Stephen Kendrick. This film reaffirms the core teaching known by just a handful that prayer needs to be staged and prepared for much like combat does in a military ‘War Room‘ environment where life and death can hang in the balance.Of course, nobody saw me shed a tear [at least not those who weren’t in my row.]”Kendrick brothers, you are wrong for that! Here’s the scene: Its time for you to fight Elizabeth. Its time for you to fight THE REAL ENEMY You gotta love it! At least I did but what is all of this “War Room” stuff about anyway? Man, you’re asking all of the great questions! My friend, it is about prayer, open communication between you and the one who made you. No silly, not your parents; God, your creator and sustainer! The War Room is about opening up and keeping clear and free lines of communication between you and Jesus Christ our Lord as your savior and redeemer. It is about having the barracks of your heart and soul in constant connection with headquarters.   from “WAR ROOM” …. My friend, could it be my that the reason that so many of our lives might look like ‘war torn’ battle grounds demolished by enemy tactics is because so very few of us regularly spend time in the ‘War Room?”“What a friend we have in Jesus, all our sins and griefs to bear! O what peace we often forfeit, O what needless pain we bear, all because we do not carry everything to God in prayer.” My friend, could it be that prayer, to be brutally honest is not something that most of us really seem to make much time for or tend to practice much in today’s times [unless of course, there is a declared state of national or personal emergency?]Could we be honest about most of our churches? In fact, if you ran a survey throughout most churches today you would discover that the PRAYER SERVICE is the least participated service of the entire church! This fact, just goes to show us how desperately in trouble we are and how much we have fallen. On one occasion, his disciples had seen his own lifestyle, passion and power of his prayers and they asked him to teach them how to pray. Look at Jesus’ personal instruction to them that still serves as a powerful model today:”And when you pray, you shall not be like the hypocrites. For they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the corners of the streets, that they may be seen by men. Assuredly, I say to you, they have their reward.8“Therefore do not be like them. For your Father knows the things you have need of before you ask Him. 9In this manner, therefore, pray:       Hallowed be Your name.       Your will be done       11Give us this day our daily bread.         12And forgive us our debts,         As we forgive our debtors.       For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.16 “Moreover, when you fast, do not be like the hypocrites, with a sad countenance. For they disfigure their faces that they may appear to men to be fasting. Assuredly, I say to you, they have their reward. 17But you, when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face, 18so that you do not appear to men to be fasting, but to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly.Text “prayerpower” 40691 Prayer then, is nothing something to just read about or talk about. It’s something to practice on a regular basis.Yes, we need to invite God into our lives through prayer and get his divine intervention employed in our war like scenarios. However, he won’’ come in unless we invite him.“God I cant make it without YOU! I NEED YOU to show up and show out in my life. God, I’m tired and exhausted from doing my thing…..please forgive me, wash me, clean me up, demonstrate your power in my life…. And have your way!”If you would like to join the “Joshua Generation” in our online prayer meetings held on the first three days of every month [1st, 2nd and 3rd] please do the following and we’ll get you the information you need.Text “WarRoom” 40691 There are no numbers missing.”
  • We’ll hope to meet you in our very own online “War Room.”

  • We meet ONLINE for prayer @ 530am central on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd of each month.
  • Brother s and sisters, you owe it to yourself to make prayer a very essential part of your lifestyle on both a personal and public level. “War Room” has inspired me to take my own prayer ministry a lot more seriously. I sure hope you go out of your way to watch it and share it with others who may be inspired in this areas as I have been on a personal level.
  • Prayer then, is our invite to God. Prayer is our humble request. It is our saying to him,
  • The movie “War Room” teaches us that whether you are experiencing battle ground fatigue in your marriage, relationships, finances, health or just life in general; the solution is the same; we need to PRAY!
  • Ladies and gentlemen, let’s face it; we can have all of the teaching and instruction in the world about prayer but if we don’t ‘drop down’ on our knees to practice it, it’s all for naught.
  • To
  • To Hear A Message About How You Go To Higher Ground By Applying This Prayer Model In Your Own Life:
  • 14“For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. 15But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
  •        13And do not lead us into temptation,         But deliver us from the evil one.
  •        On earth as it is in heaven.
  •        10Your kingdom come.
  •        Our Father in heaven,
  • 6But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly. 7And when you pray, do not use vain repetitions as the heathen do. For they think that they will be heard for their many words.
  • MATTHEW 6:5-18
  • Consider this, our Lord Jesus himself, was a man of very passionate prayer wasn’t he? Now, if Jesus prayed as much as he did as ‘the only begotten Son of God,’ then why wouldn’t we?
  • It’s critical that you get this. How could it be that perhaps the most ESSENTIAL ministry in the church is also the most NEGLECTED ministry at the same time?
  • § We’ve ADDED a few PROGRAMS § But we’ve DELETED so much PRAYER!
  • Tragically, this lack of prayer is not just limited to a personal level. We even find a lack of prayer in most congregations. Yes, sadly the very places that should be “houses of prayer” very seldom are.
  • [written by Joseph M. Scriven / composed by Charles Crozat Converse]
  • What a privilege to carry everything to God in prayer!

  • Personally speaking, here’s what I’ve found to be true about prayer. Prayer is our surest pathway to higher ground. It is our 24-7 hotline to get in touch with headquarters, particularly the commander in chief of all of our human affairs. In my opinion, prayer makes us stand up a little bit taller seeing that we will never be any taller than when we are on our knees in prayer.
  • Its time for you to TAKE OFF THE GLOVES and DO IT.”
  • Its time for you to fight for your marriage
  • “You need to do your fighting in prayer. And you need to kick the real enemy out of your home …. with the word of God!
  • What was my favorite part of the “War Room?” Great question. It’s really hard to say because there were so many great parts but there is this one part when the seasoned, wise prayer warrior and widow, Miss Clara Williams [played by Karen Abercrombie] speaks heart and soul staring into the eyes of Elizabeth Jordan, a discouraged wife, mother and professional realtor who has all but lost faith [played by Priscilla Shirer] and it sort of kind of gave me that feeling that you might have gotten when you first saw “Rocky” running up the endless set of steps right before his big fight!
  • Okay I’ll tell you. There were so many powerful parts in the movie. In fact, the movie as a whole demonstrated the Kendrick’s ‘spiritual giftedness’ in pulling out every emotion there is in a man out of him in public and in the most embarrassing way possible.”
  • This dynamic, classic is the 5th film produced by the Kendrick brothers but their very first project produced through their own Kendrick Brothers Productions.

Get Off Your High Horse & Give Up Your Colt!

There are so many ways that we cause ourselves much harm and stagnation simply by holding onto what we should already let go of. Case in point however, is the fact that the only real way to make room for the new is to first, let go of the old.

I’d like to imagine that life has probably taught you by now that it is not always the most gifted, talented, wealthy or even the smartest person who goes the furthest in life. Time and time again we see that the type of person who typically rises to the top in any endeavor of life is the one who learns the secret of sacrifice. In other words, the one who knows how to deny themselves what they want in the moment to get what they really want later tend to eventually get what they really want instead of what they had to settle for. By and large the masses of people however, tend to know a lot more about what it is to settle rather than what it is to experience true and lasting success because they refuse to fully understand and operate according to the laws of sacrifice.

Check this out. There’s a brief but powerful passage found in the following passage that offers us this teaching:

Mark 11:1-7, 12-14 [NKJV]

1 Now when they drew near Jerusalem, to Bethphage and Bethany, at the Mount of Olives, He sent two of His disciples; 2and He said to them, “Go into the village opposite you; and as soon as you have entered it you will find a colt tied, on which no one has sat.

Loose it and bring it. 3And if anyone says to you, “Why are you doing this?’ say, “The

Lord has need of it,’ and immediately he will send it here.”

4So they went their way, and found the colt tied by the door outside on the street, and they loosed it. 5But some of those who stood there said to them, “What are you doing, loosing the colt?”

6And they spoke to them just as Jesus had commanded. So they let them go. 7Then they brought the colt to Jesus and threw their clothes on it, and He sat on it.

I want you to keep in mind that the owner of this colt had a choice to make. Who knows how long he had taken care of this colt; how much he had paid for it or even how long it might had been in the family. In fact, none of these details are even revealed in the story or given any attention to whatsoever. The only thing that we can really conclude from the text is that the owner was instantly willing to obey the request of the Lord. Yes, he was ready to practice the law of sacrifice. You got it! What the Lord had need of; he was more than willing to give.

Some would suggest that the Lord doesn’t need us at all and that it is we who need him! True that! Yet, in one regard; that is only partially correct. Though the Lord could and does often do profound things without us or even in spite of us; the amazing thing about his work is that he often chooses to include us. Yes, I don’t know about you so I’ll just speak for myself, I often find it absolutely amazing how the Lord speaks to my heart and soul to tell me that he has need of me! Why!!! I tell you no lie; I know for a fact that he could use so many others far more well suited than I am to do many of the things that he is doing through me. I have no doubt in my mind about that! So surely he certainly could do without any of us though none of us could ever do without him but because of who he is; he chooses to use us about as much as we are at least willing to be used. Here am I; use me Lord!!!!

Here’s something to think about:

What is it that the Lord has already pointed out to you that he ‘has need of’ in your life? What element of your life does he desire to have more of from YOU: Your time? Your Talent? Your Treasure? Are you willing to loose your colt? Are you willing to let go of anything & everything in your life that the Lord has need of & wants to use? Tragically, the answer to that question for many of us

Is a resounding “NO.” No, we are not willing to give God any more of our time, NO, we do not desire to give that gift and talent to the Lord either and finally, once and for all, NO, we do not believe in giving the Lord our hard earned money. Yet, we are so click to say how much we love God! I’m afraid a good many of us though religious as we are, are a bit too much like the fig tree, spoken about by Jesus, in the same chapter:

12 Now the next day, when they had come out from Bethany, He was hungry. 13And seeing from afar a fig tree having leaves, He went to see if perhaps He would find something on it. When He came to it, He found nothing but leaves, for it was not the season for figs. 14In response Jesus said to it, “Let no one eat fruit from you ever again.” And His disciples heard it.

According to the lesson from the fig tree, where do you think that pretending to give The Lord what you really haven’t given him from your heart will get you? Will you be more like the one who gave away his colt or the fig tree that pretended to be more spiritual than he really was? Hell To The Know there is a difference! Get Off Your High Horse & Give Up Your Colt!

What’s Trending with Women With Gifts: Pray With Us

Pray with us.. A lot of times when things get hard we tend to ask other people to pray for us which is perfectly fine, but it’s time that we stand up to our issues and pray over them. We, as believers have become too relaxed in asking and telling others to pray over our situations and we forget about the power that God has given us. Here’s two scriptures that proves that not only does God hear us when we pray he gives us the desires of our heart.

Psalm 37:4 Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.

Proverbs 15:29 The Lord is far from the wicked, but he hears the prayer of the  righteous.

In April 2014, myself and Women With Gifts started hosting our Monday Morning Conference Call prayer in order to reach other people, other women that needed prayer and was really going through something-like turmoil, trials, and tribulations. We pray EVERY SINGLE MONDAY rain, sleet or snow and even on holidays and we’ve done so for over a year.

We want to thank everyone in advance for joining us every Monday on our prayer conference call. This prayer is hosted by Women With Gifts and lead by our founder LaNette Kincaid but our prayer is NOT just for women. Our goal with this prayer is to heal our nation, build and encourage God people with emphasis on our women, and also take back the MONDAY that people have deemed to be the worst day of the week. Join our conference call prayer every Monday at 6am cst|7am est by calling 712-775-7400 access code 513886# ATTENTION: International callers are welcome to this call use this timezone converter in order to join our prayer at 6am cst.presenting (1)

Entrepreneur Secrets: Facing your worst fears

Facing your fearsAs an entrepreneur I always have the opportunity to travel. Before you start to envy me I want to let you know that there is a good and bad side to traveling. The good side to traveling is being able to travel and earn money. On the other hand the bad side is having to trust either friends or the internet to give you great information on places to eat and sleep. Thus far I have to admit the internet hasn’t let me down.

Bad weather and ending up in unfamiliar places are the two things that I absolutely hate. I guess I can say that they are my worst fears. In other words I don’t like ending up in places where the area looks deserted. On my recent travel, not only was I faced with pouring rain but I took an exit per my GPS and the location looked a little weird to say the least. Potholes in the street, people walking around looking dazed, cars on the street looked to be either stranded or on flat. After telling me to take the wrong exit my GPS lost its signal. So here I was in the middle of nowhere land with rain pouring down and I didn’t have a signal for my phone or GPS. At that very moment I started to doubt myself. I started to ask myself did I select the right hotel. Do I really have to sleep in this place that I’m not really familiar with? Do I have to stay in this area tonight? I started to doubt my decision because I had drove close to four hours and I didn’t want to turn around and go home and just count my journey as a wasted trip.I started to second guess the whole journey only because I had made one wrong or because I took one wrong exit. Depending on how you look at it, this story can be a life lesson or a business lesson.

Here are the lessons I learned during my latest travel:

1) Always face your fears: My fears were driving in the rain and ending up in unfamiliar places. However the more I continued to to drive I noticed the rain eventually stopped and as I continued to drive, the place that was unknown became known. I’m not saying that owning a business is easy but eventually it gets easier than giving up.

2) Believe in yourself: Regardless of how small your business is you have to believe in yourself. You can’t sell anything effectively if you can’t sell YOU first. People have to believe in you first and then trust what you have to offer.

3) Never give up: Regardless of how bad your journey looks remember that the journey is not over until you reach your destination.  “Don’t be afraid to go out on a limb. That’s where the fruit is.” – H. Jackson Browne

Entrepreneur Richard Branson states, “Entrepreneurship requires a special kind of courage — you must face a great deal of uncertainty as you launch and maintain your business. The ability to recognize your fears, assess the causes and then make decisions about how to proceed can mean the difference between success and failure for a new company.”

Do you know that you are special? Hairstylists are special people, because we have the ability to heal and nourish every soul that we encounter! I Think that more people would certify themselves as a counselor if they knew how special their job was. I can say that I have earned my share of rewards from clients as well as potential clients, when they walk into my salon. The joys of laughter as well as that heartfelt moment of realization that “I am having a moment, but I have my support system.” Most people that don’t confide in family or friends, will undoubtedly confide in their hairstylist or barber. We have a lot of experience. Life itself teaches us, but we deal with many different personalities daily. We also become the “plug” of resources that people will need to get them through. Referrals and other business owners, customers, etc. are made through the very same alliance. When you think about why you are special, this alone will or should remind you. You are a “Hot Shot” and you do get “Press” even if it is not on a celebrity level. But to somebody, you are a celebrity!

My Story

My father died in 2013, and less than a month later my mom started talking to a man who she used to talk to when my parents were married. They almost got a divorce over it, and it made my whole family mad. We didn’t really understand why she did it but with me being the oldest of my two other sisters, I had to go along with it because I didn’t want to lose my sisters over this foolishness! It really hurt my middle sister to see that, because she was so close to our dad. Being made to like or talk to another man other than our dad mad her really mad and upset and she held all of it in. All of the pain and anger, she held in because she didn’t know how to handle it. But me on the other hand, I went along with it because I didn’t want to start anything with my mother either. So I continued to be nice and be around my sisters and mom! Then January of 2014, I found out I was pregnant. My mother was so mean and rude to me even when I helped her with everything and anything she has asked me to do. I didn’t understand why she acted the way she did but I had to give it to God every time. She made me cry over what she said or how she acted towards me and I was still there, being nice. There were times when she said she wasn’t coming to my baby shower because of the family members from my father’s side would be there, but then she said she was just playing. I never took it in a playful way because it was never funny to me. There was also a time when some money was taken out of her closet and I got blamed for it. I didn’t even know there was money in her closet, so my mom’s boyfriend told her to set me up by putting my little sisters money that she needed for camp on the bed to see if any of it would be missing when she went to the store! When she came back she claimed there was twenty dollars missing and blamed it all on me because I was the only one up. I just didn’t understand why she would let a man tell her to set her on daughter up and make her believe I actually did it. The only reason I even knew she set me up is because my youngest sister over heard my mother and my grandmother talking about it in the car. They thought my sister was sleep, and she wasn’t so she told me, and that really hurt because I would not steal money from my sister that she needed for camp! I brought it up to her and told her what was said, but I never said my sister told me because I knew she would get in trouble and of course she denied it and said she was setting up some men who were working in her house and they had already stopped working when this happened! So she assumed my sister told me and allowed my grandmother to stop my sister from being around me and talking to me and that hurt so bad because we are really close to each other. My sister called me everyday. I was pregnant and wasn’t even supposed to be stressing or crying! So that happened for a few days and it was a week later when I had to go into labor because they were taking my baby out because of a decrease in fluids and still, the first person I called was my mom and she asked me if I still wanted her there. I said, “duh”, even though the situation never left my mind I continued to still be nice and talk to her. Til’ this day nothing is the same between me and my mom so I just keep my distance from her but continue to see and talk to my sisters.

5 Great Tax Tips 2015

1. File the correct filing status.

2. Understand that IRS is cracking down on people claiming dependents on their tax returns that they do not support more than 50% throughout the whole tax year.

3. You and additional members of the household must have insurance or the proper exemptions according to ACA rules and regulations, or you will be penalized. The penalty goes up every year.

4. All tax information given to prepare a tax return must be able to be proven by documentation upon request.

5. Do not let a tax preparer dictate what information will go on your tax return. Always remember even if the preparer falsify information on your tax return, it is still your tax return in the IRS eyes. Pick and choose your tax preparer wisely.

January’s Extraordinary Woman With Gifts

Quarterly Women With Gifts search the world to find an extraordinary Woman With Gifts. For the month of December/January we have selected Minister Adrine Hudson Jason..Take a moment to read our article about Adrine Jason and why she was selected as our EXTRAORDINARY WOMAN WITH GIFTS.

Tell us more about who you are and what you do for your community

Minister Adrine Hudson Jason: I have been in varies ministries all of my life, but was called to be a prayer Intercessor and teacher two years ago. Throughout my life I have known that I was called to do something great. I have been faced with adversities such as being molested by my grandfather, brother, and cousin. I suffered with low- self-esteem and being a people pleaser. Most would look at those as tragedies, but, I look at them as character builders. If it were not for those situations I would never have learned to pray. My ministry came from a place of darkness, anger, malice, hurt, unforgiveness, frustration and differently, revenge. Romans 12:19 KJV says, “dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.” With that in my heart I began to rise above my circumstances birthing my ministry; For if I would have given into revenge it would have shown my lack of faith. I began to notice that more and more women were coming to me just to talk about their situations. Having experienced what they were going through I was able to pray for them and with them, giving scriptures for them to read and then teaching them the skills that were given to me by God to overcome all adversity.

What has been your biggest challenge in life?

Minister Adrine Hudson Jason: The biggest challenge of being a mother is to spread my love equally. I have learned each one of my children individually and with interacting with their siblings. As we all know growing up with siblings can sometimes be trying as one sibling will always feel that they are slighted and receives less love and attention than the others. With this in mind I raised my children to know that what God placed on the inside of me he placed in them. No matter how they feel they lacked from their earthly parents, everything they needed would always be inside of them. 2 Timothy 1:5 (KJV) When I call to remembrance the unfeigned faith that is in thee, which dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois and thy mother Eunice and, I am persuaded, is in thee also.

When you read your Bible, what scripture(s) keep you inspired?

Minister Adrine Hudson Jason: My go to Scriptures when I am in need of strength is. John 4:23-24, “but the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship him. God is Spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.” Another one is Psalm 23:1-6, “The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want; he makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters; he restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil; for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff, they comfort me. Thou prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; thou anointest my head with oil, my cup overflows. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever.”

What is a scripture that you would recommend for other women that may have struggles?

Minister Adrine Hudson Jason: The one Scripture that I would recommend would be from the Song of Solomon. I have chosen this particular book, because it’s the blue print about marriage. The Song of Solomon is a wedding song honoring marriage. The most explicit statements on sex in the bible can be found in this book. It has often been criticized down through the centuries because of its sensuous language. The purity and sacredness of love represented here, however, are greatly needed in our day in which distorted attitudes about love and marriage are common place. God created sex and intimacy, and they are holy and good when enjoyed within marriage. A husband and wife honor God when they love and enjoy each other. Song of Solomon 7: 9-13 (KJV), 9 “And the roof of thy mouth like the best wine for my beloved, that goeth down sweetly, causing the lips of those that are asleep to speak. 10 I am my beloveds, and his desire is toward me. 11 Come, my beloved, let us go forth into the field; let us lodge in the villages. 12 Let us get up early to the vineyards; let us see if the vine flourish, whether the tender grape appear, and the pomegranates bud forth: there will I give thee my loves. 13 The mandrakes give a smell, and at our gates are all manner of pleasant fruits, new and old, which I have laid up for thee, O my beloved.” In my free time my favorite things to do as a hobby when I’m not doing ministry work, I love watching movies, especially on movie nights, when the family come together and come over to my home and we usually have food, drinks, and laughter. I also like singing, and dancing and reading. Being a mother has really blessed me in more ways than one.

What are some of the joys you’ve had being a mother?

Minister Adrine Hudson Jason: Being able to guide and teach my children were and still is today one of the most important things to me. Knowing that my children know that everything I did was for them, from teaching to scolding when needed. I could not imagine not having any of my children; I mean there were days I wanted to give up, because my best I felt wasn’t good enough. There were days where I question myself and still do, but when I hear the words of my thirty year old son, then I couldn’t imagine not having them in my life or changing anything about what I did with each of them. These are the words that my son gave to me on my birthday; “Happy Birthday to my heart beat, my rock, teacher, friend, first love a love like no other. Mom no words can express the joy you bring in my life. Since birth to 30 years of age you’ve supported, encouraged, uplifted, and even scolded when needed. I’m blessed and thankful that you gave the three most important things a mother can give her child; Life, Unconditional Love, and time. You’re the Strongest Person I know With a Heart Of gold…Love you momma. Thanks for making so many sacrifices, enjoy your day! # Mommas Boy # not afraid to say it # not a woman alive could take my momma’s place # sorry babe she was my first love lol # My Angel” these words will forever play in my head and therefore is the greatest joy of being a mother.

What advice would you give other women striving to be successful?

Minister Adrine Hudson Jason: The best advice I would give to any women would be to study women that are in a professional setting, do your homework, take notes on how they dress, listen to how they speak, because verbiage is everything. I even believe that studying the Geographic’s about an individual can be useful, confidence is a big one. With confidence in yourself and your abilities you can go anywhere; people’s opinion about you will come from how you view yourself. You would not want anyone to think of you as being weak and emotional, although we being women are emotional creatures, show some assertiveness. Learn how to handle criticism learn to take it at face value and not as a put down, be organized at all times, I would tell any women striving for success is to be steadfast and unmovable. Pray without ceasing and keep your eyes on Jesus. Do not focus on anyone around you because they can distract you and always remember faith without works is dead and lastly always carry yourself in a manner that when they see you, they see the God in you to and keep God first in all you do that right there is a sure thing to succeed in anything.

What are some of the challenges you’ve had as a mother?

Minister Adrine Hudson Jason: I was blessed to give birth to three children. I had my eldest child when I was 17 years of age. Back in that era you had to get married and so we were. Being that young I wasn’t ready for marriage and that union ended. When my second husband came along I was a lot more mature and in that union a girl and boy were born. My children are the most important people in my life. They have grown with me over the years always propelling me to a higher level. I am grateful for all that God has given me and blessed that he entrusted me with the duty of raising 3 of his sheep. Each one of my children has travelled their own paths of life and they now have their own families but have never forgotten their roots. All that I have instilled in them has pushed them to venture out and experience life and the authenticity of God’s love through faith. My prayer is that as my ministry rises up and branches out that my children would each take on a role of leadership.

Why Friends Can Help or Hurt You

As a teen I’ve always wondered why I didn’t fit in with other teens my age. Why is it that I struggled to be a part of group? I’ve never told anyone this, but when I was younger I would not turn in my homework just to fit in with others. I know it sounds silly, but I thought if my so called friends didn’t turn in their homework then I shouldn’t turn in my homework. I thought that doing this would make me cool or hip. Was I right? Did my plan work? NO! Then everyone thought I was stupid. From those days to this one I don’t know if they were calling me stupid for trying to be like others in the class or if they called me stupid for not turning in assignments that were hidden in my backpack. I can boldly admit that was stupid, but it was my strongest effort to fit in with my peers.

Here’s one of my struggles with being a teen and having friends. One of my friends may not like the other friend so I can’t invite all of my friends over at one time. I love having friends, but I hate having to pick and choose between my friends. My dad always told me, “association brings about assimilation.” My mom says, “birds of a feather flock together.” They are basically saying that I am who I associate with.

Friends can help you because they can keep you on the straight and narrow. Help you to do right when you’re attempting to do wrong. “So-called” friends can hurt you by not telling you what’s right. “So-called” friends think it’s fun to do wrong and they really don’t care about rules or getting into trouble. Not being able to fit in with a certain group is not always bad because some groups aren’t meant for us.
